Healing Thyme & Honey Tea Recipe

Ingredients & Supplies:

  • Fresh Thyme Leaves (you can use your spice Thyme if you do not have fresh leaves)
  • Pure Water (we use Berkey filtered water)
  • Honey (preferably Manuka, or Local Honey, or Honey in general)
  • Ball Jars & Lids
  • Qt Saucepan & Lid
  • Strainer (or cheesecloth, or cotton towel, etc)

Simple Instructions:

  1. Wash your thyme leaves if freshly cut out of your herb garden.
  2. Place in 2 qt saucepan with pure water.
  3. Cover and bring to a boil.
  4. Once boiling, turn off the heat and let the thyme and water steep (sit) for about 20 minutes.
  5. Add your desired amount of honey to your glass jar(s).
  6. Once your thyme tea is done steeping, pour it into a clean glass jar using a strainer, cheesecloth, or strainer.
  7. Once you verify the tea is strained to your desire, pour it into the jars with honey. It is hot, so you may need to grab the glass with a dishtowel.
  8. Stir the tea and honey to help it dissolve.
  9. Screw the lid on the glass jar.
  10. Serve warm, as a hot tea, or refrigerate and serve cold as desired.

Serving Size: 1-2 T warm for use as a "cough syrup".

Took my children about 30 minutes to work, but then they would sleep all night without coughing episodes. (Reminder to not give to children under the age of 1 due to honey content.)

Can also serve 1/4 - 1/2 cup as a warm or cold tea throughout the day.

Printing Tip: print only pages 1-2 (double-sided)
